This lesson covers a collection of topics introduced in Ephesians chapter 1. One of the great emphases of Ephesians 1 is the Christian’s need for revelation from God and growth in wisdom. The nature of our hope is different from Israel’s hope, as is our salvation. Whenever the topic of salvation comes up in Scripture, always ask yourself the question, “saved for what?” Only through wisdom can we begin to “try the things that differ” (Phi.1:10) concerning our hope and salvation. Our hope (i.e., expectation) “in the heavenlies” is decidedly NOT “the heavenly city” looked for by Abraham and Israel’s Overcomers.
